Raising the Roof: Restoring Eden's Sanctuary & Song

Campaign Committee

Ed Thomas
As council president of Eden UCC, I will be the council representation on the committee. I said yes because I fell in love with this building when my wife and I started dating 26 years ago, we were married there 21 years ago, and our children were baptized here. I hate to see this build falling into disrepair.

Pastor Jacki Belile
I LOVE Eden, am committed to you and to our future. Unlike many people today, I LOVE committee work and the satisfaction of convening diversely gifted and built people to collaborate with efficiency and wisdom for the greater good. Also unlike many people today, I am passionate about legacy, history, tradition, sacred space and the preservation of these as an obligation to our spiritual needs.

Linda Stirk
I said yes to being because I believe in preserving history and our spiritual heritage for another generation to come. I also enjoy fellowship with like-minded others and working on a project to it's end to be able to see what good can come of a group of God-loving people when they put their heads together and commit to prayer and some hard work.

I have been a lifelong UCC member. In 2015 I met Rev. Jacki Belile and Rev. Steve Angel, and was impressed with the efforts under way at Eden to improve their campus as well as their service and ministry to the greater Jefferson Park community. Eden is a church reinventing itself to effectively serve in the 21st century, a time of vastly changing needs. I'm glad to be a part of this effort, using my skills in design, customer service and youth work, and enjoy seeing the fruits of Eden's labors. As the building host, I have spent a great deal of time in all parts of the building and care very much about it’s preservation.

I am currently working towards my degree in Non-Profit Management and one of my assignments for this semester is to take a grant writing workshop, write and submit a grant, and Eden would make a wonderful beneficiary for grant-makers. Further, I have extensive fundraising experience as a committee chair and President of the Hitch PTA, where I raised over $100,000 one donation at a time! (Erin is Eden's Office Manager.)

I was an organist in a past life, and still am by training and spirit. Eden's worship space is lovely and I really enjoyed playing the organ! I would love to be able to help Eden refurbish and keep its lovely old Möller organ, and now that involves the roof also.
